Top WWE Star Quietly Switches Brands

One of WWE's current high-flyers crosses the Raw/SmackDown main roster divide.

In a move that will surprise precisely nobody, given recent events, Liv Morgan is now a SmackDown wrestler.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson reported on Thursday that WWE had moved Morgan from the Raw roster over to SmackDown. This follows a career-best week for the up-and-comer, who won this year's women's Money In The Bank match at the eponymous 2 July premium live event, then cashed in her newly-acquired briefcase on Ronda Rousey later that evening, becoming SmackDown Women's Champion in the process.

Morgan had been a Raw wrestler for less than a year, having been sent to Monday nights from Fridays as part of the 2021 WWE Draft's second round on 4 October 2022.

This week's Raw saw Morgan team with Raw Women's Champion Bianca Belair to defeat Carmella and Natalya.

WWE has confirmed that Liv will "address the WWE Universe" on tonight's episode of SmackDown. A rematch pitting the new Women's Champion against Rousey has been rumoured for SummerSlam 2022 (30 July), the seeds of which could conceivably be planted tonight. As is par for the course with MITB cash-ins, Morgan's triumph came over a wounded, tired Rousey, who had successfully defended the SmackDown belt against Natalya prior to the surprise.
