UFC 246 Predictions
1. Conor McGregor Vs. Donald Cerrone
If we were going to bet on a fight being finished on this card, we'd probably put all of our money on this one. It literally has a Fight of the Night bonus written all over it and we can totally understand why. Conor McGregor and his opponent for the main event, Donald Cerrone, are two of the most highlight-reel worthy fighters competing in the UFC right now.
Fans might've soured on him due to his poor performance against Khabib Nurmagomedov and his outside of the Octagon actions, but they certainly shouldn't forget how dangerous a fighter McGregor is. When the 31-year old Irishman is in his zone and has found his rhythm, he's nearly unstoppable.
He finds opponents with punches from weird angles, eventually setting them up so they can be bludgeoned with his devastating left hand. Even though his opponents know what's coming, there are very few who're able to evade it.
Cerrone isn't the sort of defensive wizard who is going to make McGregor miss those power shots. However, at 36-years old and with 50 fights in his career, he's the sort of experienced, grizzled veteran who could cause McGregor issues in all areas of this fight. Let's not forget that Cerrone has far more submission wins than knockout victories, so don't be surprised if he tries to take it to the ground.
Although Cerrone is an underrated wrestler, McGregor has the sort of footwork needed to nulify and evade those takedown attempts. If he manages to keep the fight standing, it should only be a matter of time before he catches Cerrone with the left hand that has floored so many opponents before him.
