The Undertaker's 10 Best Matches (Not At WrestleMania)
2. The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels (Hell In A Cell) - Bad Blood 1997
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7OnciVqDAk The first Hell in a Cell match took place at the Badd Blood PPV in October of 1997. It wasn't a WWE Title match. It was a match between a babyface Undertaker and a heel Shawn Michaels that was created to settle their rivalry. It started at SummerSlam two months earlier when Michaels cost Undertaker the WWE Title with an accidental steel chair shot to the face, so it was fitting that it would end in the Cell. We didn't know what Hell in a Cell would look like going into it. All we heard was that it would be a steel cage with a roof on it. The booking of the match was brilliant with Michaels taking a beating, but always finding a way to keep going. The most brilliant spot was when they had a cameraman get injured at ringside, so they had to open up the door to get him out. Michaels used that opportunity to run away from Undertaker. That's where the drama really picked up as Undertaker followed him, so Michaels went to the top of the cage to get away. Michaels ended up on the opposite side, so Undertaker kicked him off and Michaels went crashing through the announce table. It was also the match where Kane made his on screen debut. We heard about him for months. He showed up with Paul Bearer, ripped the cage door open, faced off with his storyline brother The Undertaker and gave him a Tombstone in the center of the ring. A bloody Michaels covered for the win. This match was the perfect example of having interference during the finish, yet it didn't taint it at all.
