One of the more recent feuds of Vince's career centers around the current UFC trainee and former WWE Champion, Phil Brooks (aka CM Punk). Punk was terminated by WWE after walking out of the company in January 2014 due to pay discrepancies, health concerns and issues with the company's medical staff, and a creatively-stifling environment. While the stronger heat lies between CM Punk and Triple H, WWE remains Vince McMahon's company and it is ultimately his decision as to what the creative direction is as well as the talents' payoffs and compensation structures. In addition to his position within the company, Punk was unhappy with the lack of clear direction and communication regarding the talents' pay structure in light of the new WWE Network model and shift away from traditional Pay-Per-View. Also, the rigorous travel schedule and an overall feeling of being under appreciated all played a part in his departure the day after the 2014 Royal Rumble. Since then, Punk and WWE have been involved in several lawsuits, the most recent of which has come from the WWE's head doctor, Chris Amann. Many believe the current lawsuit is a veiled pursuit by Vince McMahon's company after Punk's comments on Colt Cabana's Art Of Wrestling podcast questioned the practices of WWE's medical staff. The rivalry remains a heated one and is likely to continue for the foreseeable future.
