Then:

Lex Luger was the first big surprise of the evening. Looking like he'd stepped out of a romance novel cover, Luger sauntered down to the ring before the bell could sound for Flair vs. Sting. The commentary team sold it as a shocking invasion and the live fans ate it up. Luger returned at the conclusion of Nitro to both help Hogan fend off The Dungeon of Doom and to secure a match with the WCW World Heavyweight Champion.

After:

While Luger can boast a Royal Rumble win as the joint winner of the 1994 match (with Bret Hart), Luger is often viewed as one of wrestling's missed opportunities. When WCW was bought out by WWE, they were uninterested in Luger. From 2002, he entered semi-retirement, making sporadic appearances in TNA and the Indies.

Due to a nerve impingement in his neck in 2007, Luger's mobility continued to deteriorate. In 2021 it was reported he was completely reliant on a wheelchair. However, he has returned to WWE backstage as a member of the company's Wellness Department.

Last Match:

Buff Bagwell & Lex Luger defeated Jeff Jarrett & Scott Steiner – UWF06 (2006)
