What If... Roman Reigns NEVER Turned Heel In WWE

Roman Reigns Sami Zayn

WWE currently boasts more ridiculously over babyfaces than they actually know what to do with.

When you really take a close look at those super popular heroes occupying the likes of Raw and SmackDown, though, their rise to becoming some of the major reasons the company has arguably never been hotter can all be traced back to Roman's jaw-dropping turn.

Without Reigns pulverising those monsters at SummerSlam 2020 and eventually taking control of WWE via The Bloodline, Sami Zayn doesn't find himself joining up with that dominant heel faction. He doesn't gradually transform into the most sympathetic underdog in the company after being abused and controlled by a maniacal 'Tribal Chief'. WWE then don't create one of the loudest nights in company history in Montreal when Zayn unsuccessfully tries to end Roman's unstoppable reign.

And Zayn and Kevin Owens' own long-term saga likely wouldn't have been gifted another few entirely gripping chapters were it not for their emotional collisions throughout the epic Bloodline tale, too.

A frustrated Drew McIntyre has taken the pain of having his big moment at Clash at the Castle taken away from him by Roman's crew - specifically a debuting Solo Sikoa - and used it as fuel for maybe the most complex and absorbing character in all of wrestling right now. And Sikoa himself probably wouldn't have become one of the most successful NXT call-ups of all time (that's not saying much, admittedly) without his heel family on top.

Seth Rollins wouldn't have kicked off his own effective "workhorse" run with the World Heavyweight Championship if his heel former Shield brother had done things the "right"/heroic way and defended his Undisputed WWE Universal strap more regularly.

Then you have Cody Rhodes, whose years-long mission to Finish the Story has been unquestionably enhanced by the fact a villainous former Dusty Rhodes student is still holding the title 'The American Nightmare' never won.

Whatever way you slice it, all of those adored heroes and more have been well and truly lifted by the high tide that has been 'The Tribal Chief' throughout this never-ending run at the top.

That's not to say that a world without a heel sitting at 'The Head of the Table' would have been completely horrendous, though...
