What They Did Next: WWE 2021 Releases - Part 2
5. Lana
When Rusev was fired by the WWE in 2020, he made one massive mistake. He went on to work for rival promotion AEW in their rise to prominence. While not a mistake for his career, one has to think that his wife felt differently when she was seemingly punished by the company for his success. In the months leading up to her own release over a year later, Lana was put into a feud with preeminent botcher Nia Jax and driven through so many tables that WWE accounting held an emergency meeting to see if the Dudleys had reformed.
When she eventually was mercifully released by the company, WWE didn't bother to officially let her know. Lana (real name Catherine Joy Perry) found out when John Laurenitis called her to remind her of the 90-day non-compete clause in her contract because she'd been negotiating with WWE about a television opportunity away from the company.
In July it was announced that Perry had joined VH1's reboot of reality show The Surreal Life, where she'll be housed alongside Dennis Rodman, Manny MUA, August Alsina, Frankie Muniz, Tamar Braxton, Kim Coles, and Stormy Daniels.
