What They Did Next: WWE 2021 Releases - Part 2
12. Tyler Rust
If there's one word that can describe Tyler Rust, it's "transient". Over the years since his debut he's been in and out of promotions all over the world from Ring of Honor to New Japan Pro Wrestling to WWE itself, mostly as enhancement talent to bigger names. However, Rust's NXT run looked like it might be one with a little more substance to when he was recruited by Malcolm Bivens to the heel faction Diamond Mine. For fans of Rust, it finally seemed like he was getting his bearings and about to become a real player in the brand.
So of course he was promptly sacked from NXT less than two months later because... reasons? Seriously, can anyone truly know the workings of Vinnie Mac's mind and not go Lovecraftian levels of insane?
Rust would later show up having changed his name to the almost completely different Taylor Rust (I know! They're apparently the same person!) and on 12 September 2021 he returned to Ring of Honor at their Death Before Dishonor XVIII event where he faced and defeated one of our next entrants in his first retirement match.
