CM Punk ensured his name remained in the professional wrestling headlines by visiting WWE Raw earlier this week, spending around 20 minutes at the Rosemont, IL Allstate Arena before being asked to leave - at Vince McMahon's behest.

It has been reported, amongst other things, that Punk used the opportunity to squash some long-standing issues with The Miz, speak briefly with Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, and meet with Bobby Lashley, Tamina, and Baron Corbin, amongst others.

Punk is understood to have learned that Raw was taking place in Rosemont (near his native Chicago, IL) after catching the same flight from Tampa, FL as WWE personnel. He attended the show, then left without issue when asked.

Dave Meltzer has since reported that people within WWE believe that Punk was at Raw because he wants to return to the promotion. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer stated that when Paul 'Triple H' Levesque was in charge last year, rather than Vince McMahon (as is the situation now), he got the impression that WWE had no interest.

Previously, Fightful reported that WWE wrestlers believed Punk's Raw visit was a "publicity stunt" ahead of an AEW comeback.

Punk, who is contracted to AEW and therefore forbidden from negotiating with WWE, has been the subject of intense speculation lately, pointing towards a mid-June comeback for AEW's new Saturday show, Collision.
