When Does Adam Cole's WWE Contract REALLY Expire?

Spoiler alert: it probably isn't August 2020.

Adam Cole
WWE

A new PWInsider report contradicts last week's story from Wrestling Inc. stating that current NXT Champion Adam Cole's WWE contract expires as soon as this August.

Per PWInsider, Cole's deal actually runs out in 18 months' time, not two. Assuming this is accurate, the original report was well wide of the mark.

It is thought that lots of NXT wrestlers signed long-term WWE contracts when the black and gold brand was moved to USA Network last year. Cole was seemingly amongst them, hence why he still has so much time left on his contract.

Regardless, it was hard to imagine the Undisputed Era man leaving anyway. He's one of the most strongly-pushed wrestlers in the entire company, has held the NXT Championship for over a year, appears to be one of Triple H's favourites, and his consistent excellence at the top of the card has warranted his spotlight. Though his partner Britt Baker has said she'd love to see him in AEW, WWE has been great for him.

Cole's latest success came at TakeOver: In Your House last Sunday, where he successfully defended his belt against Velveteen Dream in a cinematic Backlot Brawl.
