Why Everyone Is Wrong About THIS WrestleMania 39 Car Crash

Brock Lesnar GUNTHER
WWE

So, who does that leave for Brock to face at WrestleMania?

Gunther is the obvious fantasy matchup from the active roster, and maybe we’ll get that match before Lesnar’s time in WWE is finished, but not this year.

Fightful Select has reported that there were offers made to Stone Cold Steve Austin to face Lesnar, but he declined last summer. Then came the proposed match probably everyone (including this writer) was salivating at: Brock versus Gunther. But for whatever reason, this plan also was nixed. A 'Mania match against Bray Wyatt also was considered, but plans changed again. Lashley/Lesnar is cooked.

Of all the remaining, viable opponents, who’s left who doesn’t already have concrete 'Mania plans? Braun Strowman? They haven’t faced each other in more than four years, so at least there’s a gap there. Drew McIntyre? Sheamus? Karrion Kross? All of these men would just plug into the formula. And while that might “work,” it most likely would be forgotten days after Mania when Brock is back on his farm hunting wild game.

Given a choice between a plug-and-play approach of sticking one of your hard-hitting workers in there with Brock and something that would have sideshow appeal for Mania, the choice becomes a bit more obvious.
