Why Vince McMahon Doesn't Fear AEW (But SHOULD)

It behoves Vince McMahon and Nick Khan to talk like this for the good of the investors on the investor call and indeed the men themselves, even if the stance comes across as either short-sighted or transparently erroneous.

For a bit of balance, here's one last stat - the Q2 2021 financial reports for World Wrestling Entertainment saw an increase in revenue from $223.4 million in Q2 2020 to $265.6 million this time around. Over $40 million dollars more. Not to be sniffed at if the profits of McMahon's empire are being mainlined to your trust fund, but fans like us should be using those figures as a stick to beat the boss with rather than celebrate his success.

If he's got that much, why were your favourite wrestlers fired? Or why were their friends fired? Why can't the resources be pooled to help make a better television show? Why did the company not give a sh*t about Peacock's lack of capabilities once they flogged it off? Why has every storyline not been carefully crafted by the best writers and producers featuring the best writers leading to the best matches. The only reason we as consumers should want this company to luxuriate in its own muck like this is if it provides us with something as a result.

What exactly are we watching either show for? Is it for two billionaire narcissists to get even richer, or for a few hours of escapism from the world?

AEW know that answer and work towards delivering it every week, no matter how many times WWE tries to change the question.
