Why WWE Cancelled Kurt Angle Vs. Rey Mysterio Last Night

WrestleMania 35 plans played havoc with last night's Raw.

Kurt Angle was supposed to wrestle Rey Mysterio as part of his farewell tour on last night's WWE Raw, but the match didn't go ahead.

'The Olympic Hero' ended up not wrestling on the show at all. Interrupted by Baron Corbin during a "goodbye" segment, Angle was run down on the microphone before Mysterio came to his aid, vowing to teach the former 'Constable' a lesson in respect.

Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE likely made this change because they wanted both Angle and Mysterio to look strong heading into WrestleMania 35. They will face Corbin and Samoa Joe respectively, and, in all likelihood, WWE didn't want either of them absorbing a clean loss to each other ahead of the event.

What's curious about this is that Corbin ended up beating Mysterio in the main event. He didn't even need to pull out his End Of Days finisher, either, pinning him with the Deep Six for a surprising three-count.

A curious bit of booking logic from WWE, but we shouldn't expect anything else from the company, and for now, it looks like the Corbin vs. Angle farewell match is definitely still on the cards.
