It's never easy to predict the winner of a battle royal, but upon seeing the line-up of participants, it was definitely easy to tell the contenders from the fodder. Guys like Heath Slater, The Ascension and The Social Outcasts were clearly there to be fed to the bigger names, which left a handful of potential winners.

The Big Show might have seemed due to go down after winning last year's match and making the final two in the inaugural match two years ago. Still, few would put it past WWE to put him or fellow dinosaurs Kane and Mark Henry over (or even Shaq, for that real celebrity throwaway feel) on symbolism alone.

However, the real notable face was Baron Corbin, who has picked up steam in NXT, and who could definitely benefit from this sort of exposure in preparation for his eventual main roster push. It would have been rather foolish to include him for no good reason and then job him out to the same old guys. The real surprise is that creative got it right.

This writer, for one, called it.
