Wrestlers With The Most World Titles (Across All Major Federations)
9. Jeff Jarrett (12)
6 NWA Championships
4 WCW Championships
2 AAA Mega Championships
It's funny to realize that in kayfabe, Jeff Jarrett is one of the best to ever do it. In reality, he's leagues below some of his peers who didn't make the list, like Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio, Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura or Ricky Steamboat.
As with Giant Baba or Verne Gagne, wrestling in your own promotion helps. Jeff Jarrett wasn't shy at all in that regard, awarding himself the NWA Championship in its TNA version six times between 2002 and 2006. It's also hard to take his WCW Championship reigns seriously when Russo and Bischoff gave him four of these between 16 April 2000 and 29 May 2000, one of which came by defeating Courteney Cox's former husband.
His two AAA Mega Championship wins in the 2010s aren't that impressive either, as the company doesn't mind at all the publicity of having American heavyweight champions (or at least champions known by American audiences). As such, Jeff Jarrett but also Alberto Del Rio, John Morrison or Fénix won the title in the last decade, and the current champion is no other than Kenny Omega.
I don't mean to be too harsh on a guy who's never been a bad wrestler. 'Double J' was a decent worker with a nice gimmick during his first WWE run, and wrestled a couple of brilliant matches for the Intercontinental Championship.
But yeah, 12-time world champion ? That's insane.
