Wrestling Legend's AEW Contract Due To Expire Imminently
Is this wrestling legend's time with AEW about to come to an end?
As it stands, Matt Hardy is due to become a free agent in just a matter of weeks.
Per Fightful Select, Hardy's existing AEW deal is due to expire at some point in March. While the two parties have been in contact about this matter, it's not currently known whether the legend's time with AEW will ultimately be extended.
For those wondering about Jeff Hardy, his deal was matched up with his brother's upon the Charismatic Enigma landing in AEW in March 2022. However, Jeff's contract has had time added on due to injuries and inactivity.
In the case of Matt Hardy, he arrived in AEW in March 2020 and has had somewhat of a bumpy ride across these past four years. Of course, it didn't help that Matt's debut played out to absolute crickets in the empty Daily's Place as the first AEW Dynamite to take place under COVID-19 restrictions. Circumstances clearly out of everyone's hands, but even in the years since, Hardy has bounced from Broken, to Big Money Matt and the Hardy Family Office, to teaming up with Jeff Hardy, to the Firm, to more recently leaning into more heelish ways alongside Jeff.
As of this writing, Matt Hardy has only had one match in 2024 - a six-man tag victory alongside Jeff Hardy and Mark Briscoe on the first Rampage of the year - and so it remains to be seen whether the 49-year-old will end up penning a new deal to remain #AllElite.
