WWE: 10 Best Title Belt Designs In The History Of Wrestling
3. WWF/WWE Undisputed Championship
When the Invasion storyline kicked in in 2001 and the WWF Championship and WCW Championship were both active in the WWF, they needed to something with both titles, so why not create the first Undisputed World title in WWF history.
With Chris Jericho being the surprise first ever Undisputed champion he held both the Big Gold belt and the Attitude Era WWF title at the same time. When Triple H won the titles at Wrestlemania a new title was created to represent the Undisputed Championship. And the title above was said Championship.
Eventually the tag Undisputed was dropped and the title was referred to as simply the WWE Championship.
What's really annoying to me is that this was the perfect title belt to take the WWE into the new millennium, the new decade, the next chapter in it's long history, and everyone was happy with it. It was a different style and design from the Attitude Era, and Winged Eagle it looked new, the engraving in it just screamed champion, and everything was going along great. Then John Cena won the title, and introduced his diabolical Spinner Championship. Thus giving this design a run of only 3 years. The Undisputed design was carrying on the prestige of the Championship, and giving it a new modern look. The simple black and gold colour scheme was perfect for the new era. It didn't need anything else. The only thing I can fault with this belt is the name plate, but that is such a small thing to nit pick about this belt which is truly beautiful, and many agree.
The Spinner belt that followed this design was all down hill, the fact that this belt had the word Champion is huge letters and the newer one simple said Champ is enough, the prestige is almost lost from the belt. There are many like me, who would love to see this belt make a comeback, but sadly don't see that ever happening.
