WWE: 10 Best Wrestling Matches Of The Past 10 Years

3. Triple H Vs Shawn Michaels Vs Chris Benoit - WrestleMania 20, (2004)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzKT0v16gWM It can't be denied that this match will be forever tainted by the horrific Benoit murders, but looking at it from a purely wrestling perspective, it really was magnificent. You had three of the best workers ever and everything clicked on the night for perfection. There wasn't one wasted second, everything had purpose and meaning. Starting out we had the more formal mat based wrestling before it evolved into big spots that included a Michaels moonsault to the outside and a HHH / HBK co operation to put Benoit through the announce table. The blood flowed and it really contributed to the drama of the brawling, it looked like either man could win only for last minute saves to be made. The finish was such a feel good special moment. Benoit sent Michaels tumbling to the outside but turned round into a pedigree, however before Hunter could hit the move, Benoit reversed into the crossface. The Game rolled through but Benoit held on. Finally he tapped out to give Chris Benoit a famous world title win. The next month at Backlash from Benoit's hometown they did the match again and it was almost as good. The finish which seen HBK tap out to the Sharpshooter in Canada was a genius play off the still very real Bret Hart heat. However, given the circumstances of the Benoit murders, it's hard to enjoy these matches as much as we did at the time in 2004.
