In this day and age, World Wrestling Entertainment has a tough time creating shock value. With the amount of insiders and spoilers that come out, almost nothing is a surprise. That is where WWE loses some of its luster in the current era. It was dubbed the "Reality Era" by WWE employees and the IWC. Being in the Reality Era is a difficult thing with the social media and technology out there. For example, it was somehow spoiled that the Shield break-up was going to occur sooner rather than later.
