6. Divas Musical Chairs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClBmiKU8P6w Some of you will remember the first incarnation of WWE musical chairs. It was in 2004 and the premise was that the winner would receive a title shot of their choice. It was 'saved' - if that is the right term to use - by the charisma and personality of Ric Flair. Although won by Chris Jericho, Flair was the greatest turn in the game, and it went down well with the crowd and achieved cult status amongst fans. Fast forward to November 2013, and on 'Raw is Country' we had a WWE Divas version of musical chairs. A cult segment with the added bonus of attractive women. What could be better, right? Actually many things could be...... This version was designed to cross promote a song. It was a train wreck. It needs to be seen to be believed. They didn't know which way to go around the chairs. They didn't seem to be aware of who was being eliminated when (other than Natalya). JBL, on commentary (no doubt straight from Vince), said "This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen." It broke down at the end into a massive 'brawl' between the women left in the ring. It was just a colossal flop, and a waste of TV time. (Musical chairs was also used on the all female season of NXT, but it was designed to humiliate the women involved.) How could this segment have been saved? By being axed from the Raw script and never seeing the light of day.....
