3. The XFL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYhjpYKlWms Lets see if much of this sounds eerily similar to the WBF. Vince wants to prove he is much more than a wrestling promoter, so he sets about forming a new American Football League. in 2000, along with his partner, NBC, the XFL is born. With less rules, more showbiz and a lot of viewer friendly initiatives, Vince thought he was set to take over the sorts world. How wrong he was. Despite a good first week's viewing figures, it steadily declined. WWE an NBC lost an estimated $35million each. And with Vince giving so much of his time to turning it around, that meant that he had taken his eye of the WWE ball (if you pardon the pun!). Creatively, the WWE was not strong at this time. Coincidence? It must be said, however, that as big as a creative and financial flop as the XFL was it left a couple of positive legacies for the NFL: it popularised 'sky-cam' and produced many players who would play in the NFL, several going on to win a Super Bowl ring.
