WWE: 10 Greatest Cruiserwieghts Of All Time
6. Matt Hardy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8eyLUZg9DM Matt Hardy was en route to becoming the Marty Jannetty to his brother Jeff's Shawn Michaels (which he eventually did anyway) before adopting the Matt Hardy: Version 1 gimmick and having a go at the Cruiserweight Title. Hardy, along with Rey Mysterio, have the dubious honor of being in the only one-on-one encounter for the Cruiserweight Title at a Wrestlemania, which says a lot considering nowadays we're lucky if at least 3 of the main 5 titles are defended at any Wrestlemania. And dark matches don't count. In fact the Matt Hardy vs. Rey Mysterio feud for the Cruiserweight Title is probably the only memorable feud to come out of that division during the WWE. Okay, the Chavo Classic angle was pretty good, if only for comedic value, and definitely couldn't be any worse than Jacqueline or Hornswoggle as the Cruiserweight Champion. But back to Matt. He was never quite the same after dropping the Version 1/Mattitude gimmick, and aside from his United States Champion feud with MVP wasn't really able to deliver when it mattered (AKA during the Edge feud). But he makes the list for making the cruiserweight division matter during a time when it was just a former shell of its once glorious self. And aside from this run, there's not much else Matt Hardy can point to as a highlight of his single's career. Trust me. If your highest accolade as a singles wrestler was winning that over-sized, kid's toy belt, bastardization of the ECW Title, while your younger brother, who never really had to try as hard, actually won the WWE Title you'd fall into a downward spiral of drugs and embarrassing YouTube videos too
