WWE: 10 Greatest WrestleManias

10. WrestleMania XXVI

Mania26 Site of the retirement match for Shawn Michaels in another incredible addition to Undertaker's "Streak within The Streak," Mania 26 holds a special place for many a fan across multiple eras. Taker and HBK's longevity allowed them to attract fans to their work from as far back as the late 1980s, when The Deadman was still "live" and cutting his teeth in the NWA, while HBK was "rocking" his way through the tag team division in WWE alongside Marty Jannetty. Though their main-event was unable to attract the kind of PPV audience that has come to be expected of WrestleMania, they still were the driving force behind packing over 70,000 live fans into the University of Phoenix Stadium. The buyrate was below the modern standard, which combined with the record crowd for a solid but not spectacular ranking of 12th all-time in financially-related Mania data. If fans do not remember WM26 for the Taker-HBK clash, then surely they will look back fondly on John Cena vs. Batista in a WWE Championship match pitting the two biggest post-Attitude era stars in opposition. If Batista has a strong second (and presumably final run) this year, then it would not be a stretch to suggest that his career will rank amongst the greatest of modern times. John Cena is who he is €“ nothing less than one of the top 5 stars of the WrestleMania Era. His career speaks for itself. One day, when Cena and Batista's retirements have long since passed, people will reflect back to the night that they clashed at "The Show of Shows" and hopefully be thankful that they got to see it. Enthusiasts who favor Chris Jericho and Edge may say the same of the World Championship match. Maybe time will aid, as well, in erasing the bad parts of Bret Hart's last stand against Vince McMahon. As much of an eyesore as it was to witness that match in 2010, perhaps history will allow us to see it as "Hey, it was still Bret Hart coming back." WrestleMania 26 may best be remembered as one of the most balanced cards in wrestling lore. From the final Money in the Bank Ladder match at Mania to CM Punk's underrated bout with Rey Mysterio to an equally as underrated Sheamus vs. Triple H match, from top-to-bottom, Mania 26 was as rock solid as they come.
