WWE: 10 Jobs You Won't Believe That Wrestlers Once Did

5. Maven Was A Teacher

Maven burst onto the WWE scene after co-winning the first season of Tough Enough, and went on to have a memorable feud with The Undertaker after eliminating him from the Royal Rumble with a dropkick. With the help of The Rock, the rookie also beat The Deadman for the Hardcore Championship. His whirlwind start also saw him face Chris Jericho for the Undisputed Championship and Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship. Before all of this though, he was teaching sixth grade at Twality Middle School in Tigard, Oregon. He isn't the only wrestler to come from that field either: Matt Striker was working as a high school teacher in Queens, New York while wrestling part-time on the independent scene. Perhaps some investigation needs to go into the connection between teaching kids and pro wrestling - no matter what the findings, Maven certainly excelled in his second career. Sadly for him though, he would be released in 2005 after a long spell as a mid-card jobber, and after a couple of years on the indies, he retired from the business amid some drug addiction issues.
