WWE: 10 Jobs You Won't Believe That Wrestlers Once Did

4. Brodus Clay Was Snoop Dogg's Bodyguard

Before becoming the "Main event Playa", or the Funkasaurus, or even appearing on NXT, this behemoth was working as a bodyguard for hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg. He was spotted breaking up a fight in a bar and offered a job by Snoop and his manager. The same thing happened in the presence of Tommy Dreamer, who also reached out to Clay. He told prowrestling.net how much fun he would have "playing cat and mouse" with the drunk guys causing havoc in the bars and clubs. The aspiring wrestler used these experiences to work on his promos, as well as throw his weight around. He chose the name Brodus Clay as a tribute to Snoop, borrowing his surname for his wrestling character's first name. As intimidating a life as bodyguard to the stars may seem, this guy took it all in his stride and made it all seem so easy: "Most guys that fight in clubs, it's never Jean-Claude Van Damme or some licensed killer. They're usually pathetic, drunk individuals. It doesn't take a whole lot and I used to have fun with it". It's unclear whether or not he regrets leaving that life behind for a full time life on the road with WWE, but I'm sure he is hoping for better fortunes for character in 2014 after languishing as a mid-card comedy act for the longest time.
