WWE: 10 Matches To Celebrate Batista's Return

5. Vs. Undertaker (Cyber Sunday 2007)

The great rivalry between Batista and Undertaker never reached its originally intended conclusion due an injury to The Deadman in May of 2007. On the night that Taker returned from injury, Batista completed his quest to regain the World Heavyweight Championship that The Phenom had taken from him at WrestleMania 23. It was only a matter of time before The Animal was once again put in the unfamiliar role of being someone else's "prey." The rematch was set for the WWE's '07 interactive event, Cyber Sunday, with Stone Cold Steve Austin winning the vote to be the special referee for the match. As they had shown at Mania, Batista and Taker had incredible chemistry. Something clicked when they were in the ring together, creating for the kind of rare magic between opponents that becomes legendary in historical context. In the only match in their 2007 series that rivaled their classic from the grandest stage, they offered another Match of the Year candidate. Arguably, the Cyber Sunday match was better than the original but simply lacked the atmosphere and the novelty created by a first meeting in front of a then-record number of PPV buyers and 80,103 people. The result was certainly different, with Batista retaining the championship and setting up a Hell in a Cell match for the next month at Survivor Series.
