1. Jake "The Snake" Roberts
Jim Ross once said, there will never be another person who can talk like Jake Roberts talked, and if there is then It'll be a miracle, that is how highly Jake Roberts is considered as a talker within the professional wrestling business. Dark, eerie, cold, callous, Roberts promos embodied all these traits and more, to a degree it's almost indescribable how good he was when speaking. Jake is often said to have more talent vocalizing a rivalry or feud rather than actually wrestling his opponent, not an insult to his wrestling ability as he was a fine competitor, but more-so a compliment to just how good he was on "the stick." To this day it seems nobody has managed to capture the essence of how Jake spoke, but even in Jake's opinion, some have came close. While his battles with the demons of his life may be more public and discussed than his talents as a wrestler, Jake is currently on the mend, living with former student Diamond Dallas Page and staying away from drugs and alcohol. On the 1998 Beyond the Mat documentary, Jim Ross stated had it not been for his personal demons Roberts was a shoe-in for a creative role within the company. Who knows, maybe a recovered Jake Roberts could re-light the fire that once burned in the heart of "The Snake."
