WWE: 10 Reasons Why 2014 Can Be The Best Year Ever
5. New TV Deal Will Likely Mean Live Smackdown On Tuesdays
The new WWE TV deal is expected to be signed within the next two months. It will likely mean a raise for WWE from their current TV deal with NBC Universal and with the new money will likely mean a schedule change, particularly with Smackdown. While Raw will likely remain a three hour Monday night show, Smackdown is expected to be a live broadcast on Tuesday nights. Whoever pays for WWE's TV rights will definitely want a live edition of Smackdown because fans are more likely to tune into live programming than they are with the current setup of Smackdown on Fridays. The move would become official this October. The reason for Smackdown airing on Tuesdays is a logistics thing. Since WWE already has their TV trucks and full crew on the road Mondays for Raw, they're likely going to keep Smackdown on Tuesdays where it's always been. It makes no sense to have everybody fly home and then go back on the road on a Thursday or Friday for a live TV taping. A live edition of Smackdown would make the "blue brand" more of a must see show. Some fans likely only read spoilers on a Wednesday morning and only watch if there's something they like. If the show was live as well as on a better night, more people are going to tune in. Plus, WWE would make a better effort to make Tuesday Night Smackdown a more important show. It's a win-win situation for everybody.
