5. Kick Start New Merchandise Revenue

Right now WWE is sat on a gold mine of brand ownership. They also have a treasure trove of WCW footage, and to an extent have exploited this in the odd DVD release and online content. McMahon could do so much more with the WCW brand which he owns. A revival of WCW would open up huge new lines of revenue for the corporate giant. We have already detailed the value of WCW in the south, but it also played well as a worldwide brand. There are also numerous examples of how nostalgia is one of the things that wrestling fans scramble to hand their money over for. Just look at the ECW Rise and Fall DVD in 2004, it made a ton of money, despite ECW being nowhere near as watched or talked about as WCW was. WWE need to put WCW on the same pedestal of celebration which they put ECW, all too often Vince McMahon has been too keen on rubbing his boot on his old enemy rather than elevating it as a way to make money. The range of revenue streams are huge. T-shirts are the obvious angle to pursue, but WCW video games also did very well in the 90s. A reintroduction of WCW to television would allow WWE to flood the market with nostalgia sales, and the likes of a new Nitro game or WWE vs WCW game would surely interest fans more than the bland yearly releases of generic WWE.
