3. Make Use Of Assets

WWE in many ways seemed obsessed in 2001 with destroying WCW. It was almost as if Vince McMahon had bought the brand simply so he could twist the knife in a bit harder. The WCW wrestlers were made to look like jokes, and the whole purpose of McMahon bringing WCW in seemed to be to elevate his already established WWF talent further. McMahon must have felt the WCW brand was worthless, and only of value in making the WWF look stronger. Within a year of buying WCW, the whole McMahon empire became WWE. But WCW was not worthless. The very fact that Vince paid significant money for the brand shows that it had worth. Sure, he got it cheap, various wrestlers have since commented they wish they had bought WCW themselves when they found out how little McMahon picked it up for. But having picked up the brand, McMahon instead of exploiting it set about to kill it. There is form for this with Vince, he only ever likes to enhance his own creations, the likes of Goldberg who have came in as outside stars are used by McMahon to show that his own ideas and creations rule. WCW is Vince's big missed opportunity in his great career. The assets of brand name, content and stock are all still there. Bringing back WCW would be McMahon's chance to finally make some big money out of his assets. The old Nitro set is said to be fine and well in a WWE warehouse. It could be time to dust it off.
