4. Sting vs. Hulk Hogan - Starrcade 1997
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKLP7GTPzdo Sting vs. Hulk Hogan at WCW Starrcade 1997 is arguably the most famous WCW match ever. It was a huge deal as Hulk Hogan defended the WCW Title against Sting. It mattered because Sting was on the sidelines for most of 1997. He had gone from an energetic, charismatic babyface to a dark figure with the crow face paint. Hogan had dominated WCW for about a year and half up to that point with the NWO at his side. Sure, some others emerged at various points, but it was Hogan that was the main guy in WCW during that period. When Sting faced off with Hogan, it was the perfect clash of good vs. evil. Great match? No. It was pretty average. In fact, they even botched the finish. That's WCW for you. Hogan had Sting pinned and they said that ref Nick Patrick made a quick count. The problem was that the count really wasn't that fast. Bret Hart ended up coming in as the new referee and Sting was able to capitalize to win the match with the Scorpion Death Lock. It was typical of WCW to mess up a big moment. Sting should have won clean. That should have been the end of it. They messed it up, but it was still a huge moment when Sting beat Hogan for the WCW Title at Starrcade 1997.
