5. Catering In An Empty Arena

Featured Match: Mankind vs. The Rock. WWF World Championship. Empty Arena Match, Halftime Heat, 1999. After the brutality of the 1999 Royal Rumble's "I Quit" match- that saw Rock deliver eleven unanswered chairshots to Mankind's unprotected head- an even more brutal match-up was devised for the WWF's own Halftime Show for Superbowl XXXIII: an Empty Arena Match for the WWF World Championship. Thankfully for Mick Foley's brain, "brutal" was replaced partway through the match- after Mankind was thrown into a row of chairs and kicked down a flight of stairs- with ridiculousness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRBZuQK6jg4 Once the fight made its way to the backstage area, the silly weapons came out. Bags of cotton candy, a loaf of bread, an industrial-sized bag of popcorn, salad, and salsa to the eyes ("It's mild, you baby!"- The Rock)... not exactly Foley's most hardcore of brawls. That all led to Mankind pinning The Rock beneath a forklift holding a palette of beer kegs for the WWF World Championship. Just remember: this was WWF's attempt to get new viewers who switched over during the SuperBowl's Halftime show... and it garnered an impressive 6.6 rating... so there were a lot of potential new viewers who saw this as their first exposure to professional wrestling.
