WWE: 10 Superstars Who Should Have Been World Champion

4. The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase

Everybody had a price for the Million Dollar Man, everyone except the booker who never saw Ted Senior as World Championship material. Ted feuded with all the top names on the roster, many at the time they were on top but in the WWE Ted was only ever a Tag Team Champion (3 times with IRS) and the Million Dollar Champion, exchanging it with Virgil. In an interesting twist, Dibiase once bought the title from Andre the Giant but was stripped shortly after and is not recognised as a former World Champion in the history books. There's no argument just how over Dibiase was as a heel and his very gimmick has been utilised by more than one World Champion since (John Bradshaw Layfield and Albert Del Rio). However we feel that Dibiase suffered from having the wrong kind of gimmick during a period where heel champions were chosen to reflect political or social events of the time, e.g. Sgt. Slaughter. Had his career not been cut short due to injury who knows whether he would have been able to reach that elusive top level.
