9. Samoa Joe
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQwALrvIf20 A current superstar in Total Nonstop Action wresting, Samoa Joe certainly doesn't have the standard look of a professional wrestler and works an unorthodox style that has endeared to certain fans and gained himself quite a following. The Samoan Submission Machine built a reputation as a tough and tremendous worker for his series of matches against CM Punk and Kenta Kobashi in Ring of Honor and has built his fan base in TNA. However, back in 2000, Joe was just a 21 year old wrestler looking for his big break. Signed to Ultimate Pro Wrestling, then a WWF developmental territory, Samoa Joe actually had somewhat of a dream feud when he had a rivalry with John Cena. Joe made an appearance one the WWF syndicated show Jakked, where he jobbed to Essa Rios. Rios's only contribution to the wrestling business was bringing in Lita as his manager and then proceeding to lose the majority of his matches. Joe became one of the longest reigning UPW champions of all time and had a meeting scheduled with WWF executives Jim Ross and Bruce Pritchard. It was at this meeting that Pritchard told Joe that he should get another job because he had no future in professional wrestling. Thankfully, Joe didn't listen to the former Brother Love and went on to have a tremendous career in Ring of Honor before joining TNA in 2005. Hopefully, Joe will get his chance in WWE to show that a professional wrestler doesn't have to look like a bodybuilder to have success.
