Cesaro first signed with WWE way back in November 2006. At this time he had been making a name for himself in Chikara wrestling and Ring Of Honor, he was considered one of the finest young prospects in North America. His performance as a 'policeman' extra at Raw was enough to make WWE's mind up, they signed Cesaro up ... only to then release him a short time later. This was in some ways unusual. It felt like Cesaro was given a chance one minute, only to have it taken away the next. His relationship with WWE had this inconsistent form for some time, he was clearly on the radar, but never in the picture. This wasn't too much of an issue for Cesaro who was content anyway, he was enjoying great success on the indie scene with Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerilla, and Pro Wrestling NOAH over in Japan. Eventually WWE got their act together and realised the indie star was too good not to give a chance. He was signed to a contract in September 2011, getting posted to developmental at Florida Championship Wrestling. He formally debuted in WWE on April 20th 2012 and the rest as they say is history.
