WWE: 10 Things Vince McMahon Could Do To Get CM Punk Back
3. Offer More Creative Control
A big lure for a pro wrestler beyond money is how much creative control is written into their contract. In the case of Punk, his 2011 contract came with this consideration detailed in. However, it clearly wasn't the same extent as someone like John Cena enjoys. If Punk really did have creative power he wouldn't have ended up in dull-as-ditchwater feuds with Curtis Axel and The Ryback in 2013. In convincing Punk on the merits of staying, Vince should reach out with the carrot of proper creative control. Let the star pick all of his own matches. Let him script all of his own promos and angles. Let him win whatever matches he wants. It seems dangerous to give a wrestler such power (see Kevin Nash in WCW) but Punk is a guy with a level head. He is more interested in the art of wrestling than burying people. Also, Punk really is a great talent to watch. Even if he was shoving himself down our throats, great, most fans can't get enough of his work. Vince should go all out and give Punk the kind of power only Hogan, Austin and Cena have wielded in the WWE. With full creative powers I don't think there is any way that CM Punk could say no to Vince McMahon and 3 more years with the WWE.
