WWE: 10 Things We Miss Most About Eddie Guerrero

3. The Entertainer

eddie showman As great as he was in the ring, Eddie was also a consummate showman; his hilarious vignettes were always the high point of any WWE show he wrestled on (besides his matches, of course). Who else laughs every time they remember an enraged Eddie trying to break into the Playboy mansion, or Eddie and Chavo cheating at the golf course? Or Eddie feeding laxative-spiked burritos to The Big Show? Or Eddie showering with The Godfather€™s Hos? Or Eddie & Chavo tricking an old lady into using her pool for a party? Or Eddie & Chavo auctioning off Kurt Angle€™s gold medals? Or Eddie teasing Brock Lesnar outside Paul Heyman€™s office? (and running away immediately afterward) Or Eddie stealing Ric Flair€™s €˜Royal Rumble€™ place? Or... Or... Or... (Feel free to add your own, there are plenty to choose from) Eddie provided more laugh out loud moments and more entertainment value per appearance than almost any other wrestler on WWE€™s roster, ever. Whether driving down to the ring in a souped-up low rider, handing roses to Chyna before a match, stealing Rey Mysterio€™s son, €˜shhh€™-ing the crowd after pulling the €˜infamous chair trick€™ or robbing a young mother blind, Eddie found a way to make each and every bit work. The guy was utterly, irresistably, hilarious. He could reel you in to the dramatic moments of a big match, but then, he could also take a pratfall like a pro. In addition, his promos were never less than lively and inventive. In the hands of a lesser sports-entertainer, the €˜Latino Heat€™ character could have been a one dimensional, sleazy mid-card heel that would have done decent business for all of six months (a year, tops). However, in the hands of Guerrero, the gimmick became a fully-rounded Human being, capable both of comedy and of tragedy. He could be brash, he could be mean, but never, ever, was he boring to watch. Remember, €œIf you€™re not cheating, you€™re not trying€

I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction. I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long! If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it). I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work. Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that! Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?) Latcho Drom, - CQ
