WWE: 10 Times The Fans Completely Rejected What They Were Seeing

7. Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart at Survivor Series 1997

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md39ltMzg64 It's THAT match. One of the most talked about matches in the history of professional wrestling. A lot of fans simply know it as the "Montreal Screwjob" with one of the most rowdy crowds there's ever been. Bret Hart defended the WWE Title against Shawn Michaels and he ended up getting screwed out of the win when Michaels put him in his own move, the Sharpshooter. Vince McMahon told referee Earl Hebner to "ring the f'n bell" even though it wasn't the end of the match that Bret Hart was expecting. Once the decision was rendered, the fans booed the hell out of it and were even more aggressive about it when Bret was shown breaking TV monitors at ringside. Fans realized that what they had just seen was not a scripted finish like we're used to. It was a situation that was all too real and one that didn't benefit their Canadian hero Bret Hart.
