WWE: 11 Loudest Crowd Reactions In WCW History

3. Hulk Hogan Wins WCW Title For First Time (July 17, 1994 Bash At The Beach)

The biggest move that WCW ever made in their history was when they signed Hulk Hogan in 1994. There's no question about it. Hogan was the difference maker for the company because every wrestling fan knew who he was a headliner in WWE for 10 years and as somebody that crossed over to the mainstream media as well. They didn't take long to put the WCW World Title on Hogan either. In fact, he won it in his first match. There was a lot of hype surrounding Hogan's match with Ric Flair at Bash at the Beach 1994. I can remember watching this dream match with a bunch of friends because we had never seen them wrestle before. While they did wrestle in WWE, their matches were not televised or shown on pay-per-view. The match was a lot of fun as Flair did everything he could to win, even using brass knucks that the refs never saw. Hogan ended up powering out of it, hulking up, he hit the punches, he hit the big boot to the face and then the leg drop to win the WCW World Title. That was it. It was a huge reaction from a sold out arena in Orlando as NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal was on hand to celebrate with the Hulkster. WCW pushed the idea that Hulkamania lived and on this night, thanks to the support of a really hot crowd that loved him, he proved that theory right. Hogan went on to have a 469 day title reign in the second half of 1994 and through most of 1995. When you listen to the crowd reaction, you can see why. He was the most popular guy in WCW from the moment he got there.
