WWE: 11 Loudest Crowd Reactions In WCW History

2. Sting Shows His Allegiance To WCW (March 16, 1997 Uncensored)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UljmYMG6tkY There were a lot of great moments where Sting fought off the NWO. He had white face paint, a long black coat, a black outfit and a trusty black baseball bat. He didn't just show up by running down the aisle. He made his appearances after repelling down from the rafters. In early 1997, there was a lot of uncertainty about who Sting was going to align with. Was he going to join the NWO like so many others did or would he remain loyal to WCW? We found out his answer at WCW Uncensored in March of 1997. Following the main event, Sting entered the ring by repelling from the rafters one more time. He attacked NWO members Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Randy Savage. He used his bat as well as the Scorpion Death Drop. It was a one man ass kicking by the Stinger. As soon as he made his first contact, the crowd went wild. It was the first time in about six months where Sting made physical contact with anybody. That's why there was such a great reaction once he destroyed the NWO. You could see everybody in the crowd standing up as Hulk Hogan along with Dennis Rodman (NBA player that was there supporting the NWO) were staring at Sting. When Sting knocked down Hogan with a series of punches and then the Scorpion Death Drop, it let us know what his intentions were. He was there put an end to WCW. It's amazing that they went nine months before they did that Hogan/Sting match for the WCW title, but that's what happened. It was also in Sting's favorable WCW contract that he didn't have to wrestle before that point either. Just another example of WCW doing things in a bizarre way. This attack by Sting was another example of a slow build working. Fans were waiting for him to choose a side. Once he did, and he chose WCW, he became a bigger hero than ever.
