WWE: 11 Loudest Crowd Reactions In WCW History

8. Ric Flair Defeats Vader For WCW World Title (Dec. 27, 1993 Starrcade)

"Nature Boy Ric Flair pulls off the greatest upset in wrestling history." - Jesse Ventura Was that really true? No. Not really. It's wrestling hyperbole, but that's how the match was built up as Flair took on Vader. This was a very well built match at WCW's premier event every year, Starrcade. It was held in Charlotte, North Carolina, which was Ric Flair country. Flair was known for being the best heel in the business for much of his career, but in this match he was the babyface going against the dominant heel WCW World Champion Vader. It wasn't just any major title match, though. If Flair lost, he had to retire from wrestling forever. Yeah that's right, Flair was doing retirement angles 15 years before his actual WWE retirement, which wasn't even a retirement that lasted. It's pro wrestling, after all. These things happen. Flair couldn't do the Figure Four Leglock on Vader because he was just too big, so his finishing move was a roll up and he was able to hold Vader down long enough to get the three count for the win. The fans in Charlotte loved it as an emotional Flair won the WCW World Title one more time.
