WWE 13: 8 Attitude Era Storylines We Want To See

4. Who Ran Over Austin?

This storyline was a huge mystery after Stone Cold was run over in 1999 at Survivor Series by an unseen driver. In the following weeks, wrestlers were questioned, with no real answers until Austin returned to the WWE almost a year later at Unforgiven 2000. I would start this storyline with a cut scene remake of Austin being run over, then skip forward to Austin€™s big return 9 months later. Playing as Stone Cold, we would be able to attack all the people that Austin attacked on the night of Unforgiven and begin his search for his attacker. As we all know, Austin€™s assailant turned out to (disappointingly) be Rikishi, and Austin got revenge in a No Holds Barred match at No Mercy. The following night, the storyline would head up, when Triple H interfered in Austin€™s handicap match and revealed himself as the mastermind behind Rikishi€™s attack. Rikishi is yet to be confirmed for WWE 13 but as he isn't contracted to TNA, WWE could easily make overtures. After Triple H revealed himself as the real person trying to get rid of Austin, this would obviously become the main focus of the game storyline too. This would allow the game to take in the storyline as it developed between the initial showdown at Survivor Series 2000 to their final encounter in their 2 out of 3 falls match at No Way Out 2001. This would also allow for a lot of big moments on Raw and also the 6 Man Hell in a Cell match at Armageddon and Stone Cold€™s Royal Rumble win the following month. Even though the storyline between Triple H and Austin ended at No Way Out, I would continue following Austin€™s career into the next month at WrestleMania 17 to give the storyline that rounded WrestleMania ending with his match against the Rock where he regained the WWE Title.
