WWE 13: 8 Attitude Era Storylines We Want To See

3. Montreal Screwjob/Hart Foundation

(image above from WWE 12 and a created Bret Hart) When thinking about the biggest moments in WWE history, there€™s no ignoring the Montreal Screwjob. But how would it work as a gaming story? My suggestion would be to start all the way back at the 1997 Royal Rumble, where Bret Hart was screwed by Stone Cold and began his slow heel turn over the coming months. This would mean playing through the Rumble match, the 4 Way Match from Final Four (vs Vader, The Undertaker and Steve Austin) and then the massive €œI Quit€ match against Austin at WrestleMania 13. With the Hart heel turn, this would then allow the storyline to continue into the reformation of the Hart Foundation including British Bulldog, Brian Pillman and Jim Neidhart. I€™m not sure if current lawsuits would allow an appearance by Owen Hart (or Pillman for that matter and Jim Neidhart is not confirmed for the game) but since we€™re thinking of things we€™d love to see, let€™s imagine he can be involved. As Bret was injured for quite a bit of 1997, this would require playing as the rest of the members of the Hart Foundation as they won all the titles in the WWE at the time with the exception of the World Title. This would include Owen Hart€™s title win against the Rock, and their big tag team matches from Canadian Stampede and other events, onto Owen€™s feud with Steve Austin. Ultimately this would lead to Bret Hart€™s return from injury and Summer Slam main event against the Undertaker, leading into the DX/Nation feud that led to the WWF Title match between Bret and Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series 1997. This almost year long storyline would give the chance to follow the careers of the Hart Foundation closely, while also reliving one of the most controversial moments in wrestling history.
