WWE 13 - A-Z Of THQ's Return To The Attitude Era

L is for Live the Revolution

The tag line for WWE '13. But what is a revolution? Dictionary defines it as this; 'A dramatic and wide reaching change in the way something works or is organised ' THQ claim that we, the player are the revolution and our time is now. The game is given to us as it is, our chosen path and destination is up to us. Your decisions and choices will be a factor in your Superstars rise to the top and the route you take. Mix that with the fact THQ have changed many aspects of the game in comparison to its previous installments, from the in-game physics to the abundance of varied options and choices, this game truly is a revolution.

M is for Multi-Format

As usual the game will be available across all consoles PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. It's possible that each format is to have its own exclusive content. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are likely to be very similar graphically and gameplay wise, with only each consoles fanboy claiming their version is superior (Xbox 360 in this author's opinion). While the Nintendo Wii will likely include the Wiimote and Nunchunk into its control system it may not be as involving as the 360 Kinect could possibly be, you can still expect yourself to be rolling around the floor attempting to pull off even the most basic moves. No mention has been made yet as to whether a version will be released on PS Vita or Nintendo's 3DS.

N is for No Mercy

The very console in which THQ made its mark on the wrestling genre, thus laying the foundations of which helped erect this very franchise that has gone on to become the success it is today. Starting the journey with WCW World Tour, then releasing their second WCW game, playing up on the NWO take over titling it WCW/NWO Revenge, this franchise was kicking Activision's WWF Attitude franchise with its gameplay and roster size. Through the success of these games, WWE saw the potential in THQ and removed their licence from Acclaim, who had enjoyed a ten year relationship with WWE and awarded it to THQ. It was then, coupled with the Attitude era that wrestling fans and gamers got the wrestling game they had been longing for, Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy, which were the catalyst to THQ's inevitable success. WWE 12 went back to its No Mercy routes for inspiration and by bringing back the Attitude Era to WWE 13, nostalgia for this period is running wild.

O is for October 30th

The official release date for WWE '13. While that date is relevant to North America, the United Kingdom has been given November 2nd as its release. Put those X's on your calendar, set your reminders on your iPhone and prepare yourself for that trip down to your local Tesco (or any other 24 hour media retail outlet) for that minute past midnight, to be the first to grab your copy. Although you may want to ensure that the store have them readily available before wandering out at the wee hours of the morning.
