WWE: 13 Contracts Expiring In The Next Year

4. Brodus Clay

Brodus Clay should be a star for WWE, but for whatever reason, it just hasn't happened. He has a distinct look and decent in ring ability, but crucially, when Brodus suggested to Vince McMahon a 'Hall of Pain' gimmick in 2011, the boss instead decided to give the idea to Mark Henry. The result was that Henry got over as a top level heel and Brodus ended up stuck without direction. His face run as the Funkosauras was painfully bad, designed to fill time between the real action, a buffer zone. His recent heel turn raised some hopes, but WWE seem to have since abandoned any real push for Clay. He looks to be on borrowed time. It was reported in 2012 that Clay had two years to run on his contract, so it looks like he may be gone later this year. Maybe that's why Vince McMahon abandoned the heel push that we seen in late 2013. In truth, it could be a good break for Clay, with possibilities in TNA, Japan and across the indie scene all viable options for the decent 33 year old. Verdict: Best of luck in your future endeavours
