WWE: 13 Most Horribly Offensive Gimmicks Wrestlers Ever Took On
10. A Wrestler Called Suicide
William Shakespeare wrote 'What's in a name?' a phrase that has come to mean that a name isn't important, but rather it is what the name refers to that matters. After all, as the the quote so rightfully continues 'A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.' Unfortunately names can hold greater importance than Shakespeare would have us think and it has to be said that TNA Wrestling wasn't really thinking of the connotations of naming one of their wrestlers 'Suicide'. Sure enough TNA already had a wrestler called Homicide, but suicide as an act is a much more taboo subject linked to connotations of depression and mental health issues. Also there's a high rate of suicide in professional wrestling when compared to most other sports or sections of the entertainment industry, so why TNA thought it would be a good idea to use this term for one of their stars is baffling. The character of Suicide debuted in the TNA IMPACT! Video game and has been played by several different performers over the years, including Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels. In somewhat of an admission of the poor taste of the character's name, TNA finally saw sense to rename him, so he now goes by the moniker 'Manik.' It's the little steps that matter.
