WWE: 13 Worst Mic Users In Wrestling History

11. Steve Blackman

Blackman was never picked up by the WWE for his verbal talents, though there would be little doubt they would be a considerable bonus to the wrestler. He was picked up because the guy was a legitimate fighter, and the sort of guy that the WWE could use to be booked in spectacle matches to light up the Hardcore Championship which the Lethal Weapon won six times. The thing is, Blackman's lack of verbal talent wasn't entirely his fault: one of the problems of being a Lethal Weapon in the Attitude Era was that the WWE wanted Blackman to be intense with every action and promo that he did. And the problem with intensity is that it can only take you so far - particularly when you are as wooden on the mic as Blackman was. Blackman was a niche wrestler in the company, there to legitimise the WWE to the tough guy demographic that today may well be watching MMA or Muay Thai kickboxing. Had he better skills on the stick, he may have easily made the transition to a more mainstream status.
