2. Vs. Wade Barrett (Main Event; November 7, 2012)
WWE.comSheamus and Wade "Bad News" Barrett have had so many amazing matches together over the years and it's difficult to label one as the best. Of the many times they've clashed since 2011, their two matches on WWE Main Event have gotten more time than most of their other matches on Raw and SmackDown combined. Main Event, while seen as WWE's "C"-show, has been the home of some great wrestling since its debut in October 2012 and is one of the more underrated programs out there today. On such a platform, there was no questioning whether Sheamus and Barrett could make the most of the time they were allotted. On the Halloween edition of Main Event, Barrett challenged Sheamus to a match the following week in his home country England. Sheamus accepted, vowing to end the undefeated streak of Barrett in his home country. It's no secret that the Irish and the English have always been rivals, so while Sheamus was booed early on from the partisan crowd, he managed to win them over in the end. Barrett, at the time, was just beginning to find his stride as a British brawler. He incorporated that hard-hitting style into his matches, meshing well with the sheer brutality of Sheamus. The two worked an extremely exciting back-and-forth contest that lasted well over 20 minutes. As entertaining as the action was, it was the story told that made it a fantastic match. Barrett was looking to prove himself against one of WWE's top dogs while Sheamus was determined in putting an end to Barrett's winning ways in England. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1YZMGY1dKs It's also rare that the commentary is equally as good as the the action going on the ring. Then-World Heavyweight champion Big Show did a great job of putting over his Survivor Series opponent while Michael Cole and The Miz called the action to a tee. Needless to say, Sheamus and Barrett bring out the best in one another as opponents. How these two have not met on a pay-per-view is mind-boggling. Here's hoping a midcard title unification match between the two is in the cards for this year's SummerSlam.
