3. Vs. Big Show (Hell In A Cell; October 28, 2012)
WWE.comIt's hard to find any Top 10 Best Matches list that involves Big Show, but to answer your question, no, your eyes aren't deceiving you. This match may not seem like much on paper, but to say it exceeded expectations would be an understatement. Sheamus was having a very good run as World Heavyweight champion for the better half of 2012. Big Show, who had been out since SummerSlam, made his return to WWE in September and immediately set his sights on Sheamus' golden prize. From Daniel Bryan to Dolph Ziggler to Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus plowed through every competitor who stepped up to the plate and challenged him for the gold, but Big Show was a whole new ballgame. His size more often than not was too much for Sheamus to handle and it was unknown as to whether Sheamus could lift up Show at all. All of these factors made their Hell in a Cell encounter all the more interesting. The feud between the two leading up to the event was absolutely atrocious. It had the potential to be better, but the "debate" they had on an episode of Raw spoke volumes on how bad it was. Thus, no one expected their match to be anything of note, but Sheamus and Show ended up proving the entire WWE Universe wrong. Show had a performance of a lifetime in what was arguably one of the best bouts of his career. The same can be said for Sheamus who played the underdog role to perfection by utilizing everything in his arsenal in an attempt to put The World's Largest Athlete away. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVyF3Ks-Db8 Despite an impressive outing, Show's massive size and strength proved to be too much for The Celtic Warrior to handle. As Sheamus went in for the Brogue Kick on Show, the former ECW champion hit Sheamus with the Weapon of Mass Destruction out of nowhere to secure the surprisingly clean victory. It was the first time in ages that Sheamus was booked to look vulnerable and it helped the fans rally behind him in the process.
