WWE 2005 PPVs From Worst To Best

8. Backlash

The Good: Backlash 2005 was all about Hulk Hogan, as any PPV with him on it invariably was. Hogan wrestled his first WWE match in almost two years at the show, teaming with Shawn Michaels to vanquish the evil forces of Muhammad Hassan and Daivari. It was a standard Hogan tag match, nothing fancy, but oh my God the reaction to the old man was just incredible. He really was a masterful worker. Somewhat better from an in-ring standpoint was Shelton Benjamin's IC Title defense against Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit and Edge's Last Man Standing match. These four guys, who were all involved in the Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania, should have been doing bigger and better things, though. Triple H and Batista had a pretty good 'Mania rematch, too. Although they'd really find their groove later in the year at Vengeance, they still produced a worthy main event. The Bad: What, no Christian? Captain Charisma was about to go on a serious roll in the company but he wasn't even booked for a match here, instead coming out and cutting a promo on Smackdown's John Cena, likening him to Corey Haim. Burn. Seriously, go back and look at Christian from this period and tell me he wasn't ready to be a main eventer. The Rest: Trish Stratus caused a bit of a stir online when she referred to Viscera as a 'chicken-eating loser'. Choose your words carefully, Trish.
